Understanding the Changes To NDIS

I love NDIS with ablechat podcast about disabilities, community and social inclusion

Loving the NDIS maybe a bit of a rollercoaster at the moment, expecially if your trying to understand from your local news what the changes will be. The best place to start is equip yourself with the knowledge and then ask your service providers for the best information on what to do next.

The changes announced from NDIA are pretty straight forward, they all mostly say the same thing…. “Where working on it”. What they are making clear is the following

Participants may see changes in:

  • how their eligibility is assessed
  • the supports that can be funded by the NDIS (the lists)
  • how their plans are managed
  • how their funding is allocated and needs to be spent
  • requirements for information gathering for eligibility reassessment.

As from the 3rd of October new changes will start to roll out. This is very simple – the changes are pretty clear, they will be covering some things, but not others. They will still cover your supports, but not your late night call to your mum.

In Simple NDIS is here for those who require supports or help to do things that they would be able to do naturally without a disability. They help people to live a normal life as much as possible. (What ever that means).
